Emma studied at Magdalene College, Cambridge receiving a BA Honours 1993-1996 and a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine 1996-1999. Most of Emma’s early veterinary career was spent in equine practice on performance in racehorses, polo ponies and other sport horses.
Emma is the sole director of Tomlinson Equine Limited and is one of the embryo transfer and reproduction vets at the centre. She is also an integral part of her ambulatory clinical vet practice Tomlinson Equine Vets. Emma became passionate about embryo transfer and equine reproduction after her first visit to Dr Fernando Rieras embryo centre in Argentina, Dona Pilar, and with his help set up Beaufort Embryo Transfer in 2002, now Tomlinson Equine. She is hugely encouraged with the progression and advances in breeding techniques already shown in the last decade and continues to strive for further improvement and development in this ever expanding area.

Over the years Emma has Evented to Intermediate level and rode in Point-to-Point and National Hunt races.
